We’d like to thank everyone who so generously took the time to send us their thoughts on which track we should cover. Proof, if ever it was needed, that our supporters have impeccable taste in music (aside from the person who thought Joe Dolce ‘Shuddupayourface’ would make a great cover). We’ve had loads of fun (and a few arguments) deciding on which track to cover from the 700+ suggestions you all left on our website, Facebook and Twitter. It was great to see lots of alternative genres being mentioned from artists such as Nine Inch Nails, Helmet, Pink Floyd, Kate Bush, Doves, Massive Attack and New Order to name a few.
So, we’ve decided on which track to cover and are in the process of putting it together right now. We’ll let you know what it is very soon and post a clip when it’s finished and mastered. We’ll then announce the winners and will be twisting the arm of Distinctive for a goody bag full of CDs and deluxe editions (as many as we can filtch from their office) and post them off to the winning participants and runners up.
Thank you all again for your tireless iTunes, record collection and memory bank searching for the perfect track for us to cover, you lovely lovely people.
Distinctive are planning to release a Hybrid greatest hits album to celebrate our 12 years working together and although it feels slightly odd to have reached this stage in our career, we have released four albums of which we are very proud and this will be a fine way of showcasing some of the highlights. We’ve specially chosen our favourite tracks and have curated a selection of unreleased and rare versions for the deluxe edition. The album is due for release this Autumn and will be available digitally and on CD.
We are going to record a special cover version of another artist’s track to go on the album and would like YOUR help in deciding exactly which cover this should be. If you want to get involved, please feel free to leave your suggestion on this site, Facebook or Twitter and let us know which song should be given the royal Hybrid treatment! We will record our favourite for the Classics album and give those who came up with the idea a Deluxe signed version upon release at the end of the year. We’ll also be giving ten runners up who’s suggestions we liked the most a copy of the Classics CD.
Good luck and for f&%k’s sake no Alanis Morisette!!!
This is a remix we did of the very excellent Losers ‘Summertime Rolls’ a few months ago when none of us were thinking about summer in the slightest. If you haven’t hear of Losers, they’re comprised of XFM’s legendary Eddy Temple-Morris and ex Cooper Temple Clause keyboardist Tom Bellamy. The track features vocals from Placebo’s Brian Molko and the single includes mixes by us and Brazilian producer Superstrings.
We’re thrilled to announce that we’ll be working on the new Jon Favreau film Cowboys & Aliens with Harry Gregson Williams. The film stars Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford and is set in 1873 when a spaceship arrives in Arizona to take over the Earth, as they invariably do. The film is due for release on the 12th of August 2011.
Any of you who have been following our recent activity on Twitter and Facebook over the past month will know that there’s been a new tune brewing. Blind Side will be the first track out the door on our label Kill City Records and we’re very excited to be able to offer you a free download of the tune in all its glory! It’s a preview from the full release we’re planning at the end of April.
The full release will include numerous remixes and alternative versions but until then, you can get hold of the tune here on our website by clicking on the ‘Get Blind Side Now’ button to the right.
We’ll be debuting the track during our live set at Ultra Music Festival in Miami this month and will be videoing the event for posterity, however we cannot do this alone and want to include your footage too! If you have some video you’d like to share of us playing Blind Side at Ultra, you can upload it by clicking the link below. The footage will be edited into a live video which we’ll post soon after the festival. We can use practically any type of file, from HD cameras to iPhone / Smartphones.
