Hybrid Soundsystem Tour (September 2011)

A massive thanks to everyone who came out to see one of the many Hybrid Soundsystem shows in September it was a fantastic tour and great to see so many of you coming out to party. The tour started in Orlando at the Vintage Lounge then worked it’s way across Florida to Suite in Jacksonville and ending up with a couple of massive nights in Vanguard in LA and Public Works San Francisco. Anyone in the Bay Area will be able to catch up with me every 3 months as I’ve just started a residency there so watch out!!

The tour then moved onto Australia to the legendarily badly titled ‘Brown Alley’ club Melbourne, then on to the equally legendary Chinese Laundry in Sydney, equipped with it’s new monster sound system. My new digital Soundsystem set up sounded massive in there, so much so I thought I’d better record the whole thing and serve it up again here as a live 3 hour mix which is free to download.

1. Hey Chris – thanks for posting the audio mix and congrats on Hybrid’s successful US and Australian tour! I am looking forward to listening to three hours of Hybrid! We missed you in Atlanta, Georgia, and hope you can stop by sometime. I’d love to hear you live.

   I admire how you’ve all persisted for the past 15 or so years. Keep on going, greater success is coming to you all. After recently revisiting some of your remixes form the late 1990s, I was just as spellbound and engaged by what you made then, as I am with what you produce now.

   One of the things I love about your music is the way you layer sounds multiple together, all playing at the same time, with the volume of each one perfectly set. The harmonious, intense feel is smooth as silk, yet moody and punchy. It’s as if God is playing tunes through you guys, and has done for the past 15 years. You can also turn out gorgeous ballad songs such as: Until Tomorrow that are simple and have atmosphere. The other thing I love most is the inclusion of orchestral instruments.

   You guys Rock! Thank you for all you do and the delicious sounds you create,

3. Downloading now, can’t wait to hear it…I don’t have the chance to get to any of your live shows yet with family life getting majorly in the way, so can’t wait to kick back with 3hours worth.

   Any update on your remix comp? I’m quite excited by it!

   Huge Fan. You guys make amazing music. I wish you all the success you deserve. I am listening to the remix that you did for Planet Funk (Everyday) on youtube…. I didn’t put it there! The strings towards the end are amazing… the strings themselves and the arrangement in the remix…. I’ve been wondering if they are original or taken from a Nyman score. It’s been driving me nuts, this one! I hope that you guys will release this remix on a best of or Soundsystem 2.

   All the best from San Diego (the worst town in the US for Electronic Music!!)

6. I’m pissed. I wanted to see you guys at Public Works, on December 16 (my birthday) with my girlfriend , and we cannot attend because we are under 21. C’mon I turn 19 that day! Is there any way we can get into that place on that day?! I listen to at least four Hybrid songs daily, and buy your albums the day they are released. I demand Hybrid LIVE.

7. Yep that Public Works was packed for an awesome show Chris performed. The music, the sounds the lights yes sensory overload but a good one. Awesome every three months I’ll be there with my friends at the Public Works. Just got the instrumental mix of the album and loved it and only cost $7.90 and Blind Side EP for $2.50. How do you do it? Most groups take 3 years to come out with something new. Good prices excellent beats, your the best. So by my computations you’ll be back to the District sometime in December, can’ wait. OH yea I thought the techno mix was a killer, best set yet. Play it everyday.

   Thanks for the support and all your kind words you are all lovely people..

   It’s the reason i do what i do. It’s why i keep getting on planes and trains and wrestling those awful hangovers…I love to play Hybrid soundsystem style to you and will continue to bang it in the clubs until they throw me out…!!

15. My girlfriend and I are desperate at this point. We still haven’t gotten word wether or not we are allowed in Public Works or not. We’re both underage (age 19) so we’re still hoping we can get on the guest list or something. My name is Kevin Pescoran and my lady is Lily. We would really appreciate it guys. Not to mention it would be an amazing birthday gift for me!
